TRADEMARK LICENSING
The University of Kansas initiated a licensing program in 1978 and entered into a formal arrangement for a national program in 1982. Responsibility for the Trademark Licensing program now resides in Kansas Athletics. The program has four main objectives.
Administration of The Licensing Program Kansas Athletics, Inc. (Kansas Athletics) has been designated as the University department responsible for the administration of the University's trademark licensing program for all University of Kansas locations. The Trademark Licensing Director has the responsibility for the operational management of the trademark licensing program. The director is responsible for implementing policies and procedures established by and with University representatives. The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) The Trademark Licensing Program works with The Collegiate Licensing Company to reach program objectives. CLC assists Kansas Athletics in protecting and controlling the use of all logos through its trademark licensing program. The CLC represents more than 180 universities, bowl games and conferences (including the Big 12), as well as the NCAA licensing program. Based in Atlanta, CLC provides its member institutions the expertise, resources and experience necessary to maximize licensing revenue potential.
