LAWRENCE, Kan. -

No. 14 Oklahoma State scored five runs in the top of the sixth to regain the lead and hand the University of Kansas a 14-4 Big 12 defeat Friday evening at Hoglund Ballpark.

The Cowboys improve to 18-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play, while the Jayhawks drop to 14-13 and 1-3 in the Big 12.

KU freshman Robby Price gave the Jayhawks a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the fifth with a three-run homer over the right field fence. It was the freshman third baseman's first home run of the season.

However, the Cowboys answered with five unearned runs in their half of the inning and blew the game open with six runs in the final three innings. Center fielder Keanon Simon led the OSU attack with five hits, while Matt Mangini and Rebel Ridling each drove in four runs.

Price paced KU, going 1-for-3 with the three run homer, while Brock Simpson had an RBI single in the bottom of the first.

Sophomore Nick Czyz suffered the loss, going 5.1 innings, allowing seven hits and three earned runs while striking out four.

The teams will continue their three-game series tomorrow with a 1 p.m. first pitch at Hoglund Ballpark.
