LAWRENCE, Kan. - Kansas guard Sherron Collins underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Monday, head coach Bill Self announced.

"Sherron had some knee problems this year and we knew it was going to require surgery after the season," Self said. "He toughed it out and was a primary reason for our success this year."

"Doctors said the surgery went very well and anticipate no complications," Self added. "Sherron should be starting rehab soon and doctors expect a full recovery. With the season recently ending, he has plenty of time to heal."

As a sophomore, Collins earned the 2008 Big 12 Conference Sixth Man Award by averaging 9.3 points and three assists for Kansas. The 5-11 Chicago guard scored 11 points against both North Carolina and Memphis at the 2008 Final Four. Additionally, he had six assists and three steals against the Tigers in KU's 75-68 overtime win in the national championship game.
